MISSION STATEMENT
The Buffalo City Mission exists to restore hope and dignity to the hurting and homeless through the transforming grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Why list the Mission Statement First.

Because we want to fill all of our positions with people seeking to serve and follow Christ, and his example.
It does not mean we are doing it perfectly, and a lot of us need a lot of grace :-) But, when we make choices, when we deal with conflict when we set priorities, we want what Christ would want.
We try hard to figure out and agree on what that means, and how that works.
It is not always easy, sometimes it is messy.

SUMMARY This position is responsible for picking up donations from residences, vendors, partners, and other donation sites as scheduled and delivering them to necessary drop-off locations while providing excellent customer service and communication to all parties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS: A representative summary of tasks to be performed is provided below.
The employee may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description.
The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of the Buffalo City Mission.
Observe all safety standards in proper loading and unloading of the truck.
Ensure that the truck remains a smoke-free environment.
Check to ensure that truck cab and box are clean, and all personal items are removed daily.
Maintain complete and accurate records including driving log daily Before departure every day, ensure the truck is equipped with the proper documentation needed daily, this includes an Accident Report, Truck Registration, Truck Insurance Card, Copy of truck lease agreement, Truck Mileage Sheet.
Ensure the truck is properly packed and goods are always secure to prevent damage/injury.
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance Operate vehicle following the laws of New York State and the expectations of the Buffalo City Mission as detailed in driver orientation.
Treat all customers courteously and in a manner representative of the Mission and its values.
Assist or complete placement of items when delivering to the Thrift Store to ensure the proper handling.
Maintain equipment in good operating conditions and report any problems.
Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment.
Obey all traffic regulations.
Responsible for utilization and filing of all necessary paperwork including inspection sheets, key sign in/out, schedules, etc.
Utilize a truck scheduling system to ensure the accurate completion of runs and communication Maintain daily run requirements as set by the Senior Manager of Retail-Logistics Operations Maintain clear, timely communication on any alterations to the original run schedule on any given day Assist in all warehouses as needed Represent the organization to all clients, volunteers, and fellow co-workers in a Christ-like manner to serve as an example of Christian behavior.
All other additional responsibilities as needed by BCM.
Education and Experience: High School degree or GED.
2 - 3 years related work experience.
Must communicate courteously.
Must have a valid, clean NYS driver’s license, CDL is preferred but not required Ability to lift heavy merchandise (refer to ADA worksheet).
In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate belief.
1 to 2 years’ experience packing, securing, and transporting merchandise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Teamwork - Relates well to all kinds of people regardless of level inside or outside of the organization.
Uses diplomacy and tact when dealing with and interacting with others.
Diffuses tension.
Fosters collegial and cooperative attitudes.
