Description:
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Driver is responsible for delivering proper food and supplies as determined by the daily menu and meal count to Senior Centers and Nutrition Sites as directed by the Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pack, load, and deliver food and supplies for lunch meals according to route instructions.
Pick-up clipboard, meal count, and checklist.
Check the menu and check for special instructions.
Start packing milk and supplies.
After packing is complete, start loading the truck or van.
After loading the vehicle, go over the checklist to make sure everything is packed.
Check with Transportation Manager for other instructions such as working on the line, etc.
As the meal is delivered, transport equipment and meal tickets from the previous day must be picked up.
At each stop when you unload, check and make sure that you have everything off the truck for the meal site.
Go over the items that you have delivered with the Site Manager.
Have the Site Manager accepting the food sign the meal ticket and put the time of delivery on the meal ticket.
The Site Manager will take the temperature and log the temperatures on the meal ticket.
Report any feedback from the Site Manager to the Transportation Manager immediately upon return to the Commissary.
Maintain the assigned company vehicle and equipment according to standards.
During the delivery, if you have any problems with traffic, vehicle, etc.
, call the Transportation Manager or designee for special instructions.
After all deliveries are made, stop and fill the vehicle with fuel.
Check coolant and oil at the service station.
Sign the gas ticket and put the asset number of the vehicle on the gas ticket with the mileage.
Return to the Commissary.
Clean vehicle inside daily and outside a minimum of once per week.
Report any malfunctions to the Transportation Manager.
Lock and secure the vehicle.
Sanitize transport equipment and vehicle daily in accordance with Health department standards.
Follow all company, client, and traffic policies, rules, and regulations.
Complete all training provided by the company including the driver's handbook.
Ask questions to ensure understanding.
Be to work on time.
In case of emergency, report directly to your immediate supervisor in advance of the regular scheduled starting time.
Report any medication taken to the Driver Supervisor or Manager.
Maintain workplace professionalism.
Display a friendly and positive attitude toward the job and other persons; perform job duties willingly and without complaint; attempt to understand and respond to the needs of supervisor and co-workers; avoid making hostile or unproductive comments.
Never releasing or discussing internal matters of a serious/sensitive nature outside the company.
Ensure that your supervisor is advised on a timely basis of potential problems
Assist with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals
Other duties as so assigned or needed.
Requirements:
Must be at least 25 years of age at the time of hire, a minimum of two (2) years driving experience and must hold a valid driver's license
Must have a current Motor Vehicle Record with no more than two (2) moving violations and no more than two (2) preventable accidents within the past three (3) years and no DUIs within the past five (5) years
Must not have any convictions or citations for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Must not have any citations or convictions for fleeting or attempting to elude police or law enforcement, commission of a felony, aggravated assault with a vehicle, vehicular homicide, hit and run or leaving the scene of an accident
Ability to properly lift a minimum of 75 pounds with minimal effort following required safety guidelines
Ability to read and perform basic addition
Ability to complete basic vehicle maintenance
Ability to tolerate sudden and extreme changes in temperature
Must have a State Food Handlers permit where required by state law
Experience in delivery, with excellent defensive driving record.
Good customer relations skills; interaction with some Site Managers.
